Recap: Rock n’ Ride 2011

Bands, DJ’s, Raffles, Contests, Demos, Tattoos oh my!

Last weekend the Windward Crew had the pleasure of kicking off this snow season with the Kor Alliance at Rock N Ride 2011. The Midwest’s finest gather together for a weekend of snowboarding, music and some real good times. There were bands, DJ’s, an all-day raffle, high ollie contest, 32 boots demo and a tattoo artist, ready to give you that permanent reminder of the weekend.

We got in Friday night just in time for the F’n Catalina Wine Mixer. The band Ghosthouse kept the crowd moving and the crew from Midwest Shred Magazine had a red carpet style photo booth set up. The real excitement kicked in when it started to actually snow. The winter has been mild to say the least, so the real snow was a welcome change.

Saturday was time to rise and shine and get some riding in. We got our donation items set up at the raffle area and hit the hill. The raffle drawing was at 5pm and the crowds were ready to win some gear. There were a ton of great prizes including a Go-Pro camera, DC snowboard, Ride bindings and the Windward prizes – an Arbor longboard deck and Bond women’s outerwear set. After the raffle it was time to get back out for some night riding. The warm weather kept the crowds away and we were all able to run laps with no lift lines at all.

Saturday night is always the icing on the weekend cake. The band Stache played to a rowdy crowd and it was a good time to say the least.

If you missed out on the festivities, check out some pics below. Also, the Kor Alliance crew throws a season-ending bash every March called Snowfest. Another fun filled weekend that you will not want to miss…
